Nuclear energy is created through a process called fission - the splitting of uranium atoms. This generates heat to produce steam, then used by a turbine generator to create and generate electricity. As there is no burning of fuel involved they do not produce any greenhouse gas emissions. Being a low emitting source of electricity production, it is only one aspect of moving in the right direction of creating a net zero emission planet.
